Colour Blocking on

Colour blocking

Gone are the days when we shopped for matching handbags or shoes with the colour of our outfits. Now instead of matching colours try pairing 2-3 blocks of colours to create a bold style statement. You can colour block with clothes, handbags, accessories and shoes.

Our lovely style expert Babita Jaishankar from ‘Baja – The New U‘ shares with us her colour blocking mantra.

The rule of three

Start with choosing a colour you are comfortable wearing and then pair it up with opposite colours. The key is to keep the ensemble to a maximum of three colours. Refer the colour wheel.

Breezy simplicity

Colors from the same family can be used for starters since it is more pleasant and harmonious. Imagine lime green, yellow green and emerald green.

Colour Pop

Wear a single colour pop and then team it up with a yellow or aqua bag, neckpiece or a shoe. Go crazy when wearing this single statement piece, don’t be afraid to try neon or citrus.

Neutral Shades

If you are wearing bright hues, perfect the look by including neutral shoes or belts to keep it simple. Swipe a nude lipstick that compliments this sartorial mashup.

Next time when you go shopping, experiment with these colour blocking tips. Dont’ worry this trend is hear to stay and is not relegated to summer months.
